Skunk Surfeit
He/They | USA
This skunk has loved music for as long as I can remember.
I was raised on 70's and 80's music, growing up with 90's and 2000's alternative music, with sisters who loved hip hop and pop music including pop punk. Even as an adult, I still find music from over the decades that I never took the time to listen to and end up loving. I started making music in a metalcore/post-hardcore band with some amazing friends. The guitarist and I formed it and wrote the majority of the songs. Each member contributed at least one song lyrically. We weren't able to afford a lot of gear so we never were able to perform except for two parties we were invited to. After we all eventually split, I continued to experiment with making music over the years, learning more on different areas such as mixing and mastering. We all kept in contact over the years.
The guitarist and I collaborated musically recently on a couple different projects, including two reproductions/remakes of songs from back then, one that was written by me and one written by him. Skunk Surfeit was started in 2019. Initially, I was going through a couple different names before settling on Skunk Surfeit, which means a group of skunks. I am the only member, producing each track myself unless noted. Everything is created out of experimentation, but with a form of consistency.
One of my main goals of this project is to create a fun short film centered around a fictional group of skunks that make up this band, created within the fandom. Another goal of mine is to spread self-acceptance and empathy with my music, to help others express themselves.
