Scales: He/They Snickers: She/They | USA
Out of the Way consists of two members, Scales contributing guitar, bass, and synths with Snickers contributing percussion and vocals.
Scales had started Out of the Way as a solo instrumental postrock project in 2020, while his band, Full Color, was on a pandemic-fueled hiatus.
Shortly after the vaccines were readily available, Scales and Snickers met through a mutual friend and found that they had a similar affinity for progressive rock & metal music.
Scales had been working on a full-length album after his first EP release, "Isolation", and Snickers had offered to contribute drums to the early demos of the tracks.
The two have been working together ever since, cementing Snickers as a core part of Out of the Way. The sounds evolved into integrating more complex rhythms and time signatures, heavier guitars, active drum grooves, and dramatic dynamic shifts, combing the mesmerizing postrock aesthetic with the driving and compelling character found in progressive metal.
